Script for film opening

                                 News report script

At around 7:45am this morning the police were alerted to an incident at Chelmer park, a young girl who has just been identified as Lillie Mason, a student from Great Baddow High School was found dead by local dog walker John Roberts. He claims that the dog went over to a pile of leaves and it was only then when he went to go and retrieve his dog that he saw the young girl, he immediately phoned police. When police arrived on the scene they were quick to tell that she was already dead, police say the girl suffered major head injuries and that the injuries were the cause  of death. The police have already started the murder investigation  but have yet to have any main suspects. The family is all fully aware of this tragic incident this morning  and would be grateful if anyone could come forward with information on either who was with Lille Mason on her walk to school. Its not clear to as whether this was a random attack or if 17 year old Lille Mason was a target. The family have asked for people to respect their privacy at this time so that they can start to come to terms with the loss of their daughter.

Production Diary

07/11/16- Monday
On this day we were put into our groups, in my group was Faith and Beth. We had to write down a few film opening ideas to do with the story line and genre.
Faiths ideas
1)cliff hanger/twist at the end
2)internet-cyber bullying/online stalker
3)missing peoples case
Beth's ideas
My idea was a murder mystery about a murdered girl who is discovered by a dog walker.
08/11/16-Tuesday
On this day we had to come up with our ideas and make something good to present them on to for the rest of our groups.

09/11/16-Wednesday
On this day we presented our film ideas to each other and picked the best film opening idea that we agreed on. We picked my idea because it was very successful in the plot, and we also thought it would be easier to film. We had also started planning and adding things on to the story plot.

10/11/16-Thursday
On this day we started doing our film presentation on PowerPoint, for our film opening story, saying what our idea is, our marketing, etc. ready to present to our class.

11/11/16- Friday
This day we had to present out group PowerPoint to the class the class gave us some ideas that we could develop or ask. These are some feedback we got:
  • a lot of enigma code through out(makes the reader want to watch more)
  • very clear genre/themes
  • might be to hard to imitate a funeral
  • the ex boyfriend is the most interesting character because people want to know how the is involved.

Institution

In class we learnt about Mainstream vs Independent film.

Independent:
~ Makes you think
~ Makes you ask questions
~ Associated with critical success

Mainstream:
~ Makes you laugh
~ Makes you cry
~ Associated with commercial success

Audiences and Access
~ Mass audiences consume primarily 'mainstream' film because there isn't a lot of independent films around.
~ Entertaining, mainstream films make money

Independent VS mainstream film: An independent film makes you think and ask yourself questions, it is also associated with critical success. Whereas a mainstream makes you laugh/cry and is often associated with commercial success and is only made as an escapist entertainment

Production Diary 1
For the first day of  filming we chose to do the last scene first, we decided this as we need to have it done an it involved makeup which would take time to do everyday so we wanted to get it done first so it was out of the way but done well, we needed the makeup to go along with are genre it was a very important shot. We did film this shot a couple of times but we did this as we need to make sure that the genre of horror was there and in order to do this we had to change the lighting and even add more blood onto me to make it noticeable to the camera, if we hadn't of done this it wouldn't of given off the right message and the audience wouldn't know it was a horror. We used a small room with a table and blanket to give the effect of a bedroom to make it more realistic. We used a phone torch for the light as that is all we had but it did give us the right look we wanted. We filmed the shot a couple of times to make sure we were in the right positions and that we got a good end result.

Production Diary 2
After we filmed the last scene we had a problem with the makeup we used, even though we didn't mean to make are character look like a clown many people could've seem him in that way and due to the clowns that have been in the news we were no longer allowed to use the makeup, for a bit we couldn't film as Ale who was apart of are team had been taken away to sort the makeup issue out not only was he gone but he had our camera so we had to wait for him so that we could carry on and of course this wasted time that we could've used filming. W
e had to change the way our creepy character looked so we just made him into a man who had a hood on to hide the face. After everything was sorted we went to film the next shot, we need help as we needed more characters in the scene, we got two people to help us out, one with filming and the other with acting. When we explained to the two people what we needed we went on and filmed the shot, once we were done we headed back to review what we had just done but when we did this we soon could see that you couldn't really hear us talking which was a major problem, if we couldn't hear it then we couldn't use it. So we had to leave it, we had learnt that we needed to have a location where there is hardly any noise so we can be heard. We quickly shot a message scene but when we watched it back Ale had issues in holding the camera and the quality wasn't very good so we left it as we knew it wouldn't take long to re-film another day.

Production Diary 3
As the footage we got from the last time we filmed wasn't at its best we needed to do them again to make sure they were as best as we could get them. Again we needed two people to help us film, we managed to get two people and we found somewhere that we could film were we could be heard. We had everything ready and began to film, once we were done we were really happy and went back to see what we got but when we got back we could see that something was wrong, when we watched the shots back we could see the problem, we hadn't been filming the right bits, even though we explained to the person how to press stop and start they didn't seem to get it right as when we said start the stopped the recording and when we said stop they started the recording, so we managed to record everything else apart from the bits we actually needed.

Production Diary 4
We faced a lot of problems when filming so we went on the dream scene, we used lots of shots for this, some with the tripod and some by hand. We had to use a tripod as the scene contained all three of us in the shot at once. Using the tripod and the free hand was good as it was something different and meant that the shots weren't all the same all the way though.
We managed to film these scene very well without any problems.

Production Diary 5
This was the last day of filming, we got everything filmed again but we saw another problem, we were wearing different clothes and therefore it could be confusing, but we had to film and we said that we would write about in our evaluation and what we have learnt from it. We watched back our final pieces of footage and we were happy with it seeing as we had the problems. Next we needed to edit.

Production Diary 6
Me and Sophie took it in turns to edit but I was away one day on a school trip so Sophie finished off the final edit of the film with all the transitions and music.
