Final Prelim Task and Evaluation
ADD STORY BOARD
Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?
In my group I had Sophie and Ale and we decided that we would share out the tasks equally so that it was fair but I would say that me and Sophie did more then Ale but this was due to Ale being on holiday which we couldn't do anything about but me and Sophie were okay with carrying on and finishing the work that needed doing. We all said that we were fine with acting and we had no problems in giving our ideas and opinions. We all acted, Sophie and Ale filmed and me and Sophie edited. We managed to do all the tasks even if they weren't done equally but in the end we were all happy with the end result.
How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?
When we first got into our groups we planned our sequence by making some ideas on a piece of paper. When we started getting ideas we all added to different bits and made sire that everyone was happy with it. Ale then made a storyboard to make sure that it would all be in the right order and would make sense. we used the processes like storyboards, shooting schedules and looking at the same genre of films which was horror to get some ideas.
What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
We had to think about a lot of things before actually getting on with filming and editing, one was that we needed good locations, not just a good location but we needed somewhere that wasn't going to be busy and that we could always use in case we needed to film quickly. We did decide on a place in the end and it was a place that wasn't busy and was good for what we needed to film. As we only had the school to film in it was hard to pick the right place as of course it is mostly always busy everywhere, in order to film at the least busiest times we decided that we would film during lesson time when everyone is in class, this was to reduce the background noise. Also another factor that had to be dealt with was that I had a school trip on one of the editing days and Ale was on holiday which left Sophie on her own to edit for one day, the day before I did put all the videos into the rights place and made sure they were at the right time, this meant that Sophie could put the effects in and add the music. Sophie also added a voice over which was a nice touch to it, it also added more skill to it.
How successful was your sequence? Please identify what worked well and with hindsight what would you improve/do differently?
I think that our sequence was successful as when people reviewed it they said that it made sense and that we put a lot into three minutes which showed that we were committed. I think we did really well at facing each problem we got, we did seem to have a lot but we didn't let it stop us and we carried on doing are best and doing the shots again and again until we got it right. Next time I would want to make sure that I was wearing the same clothes in every shot and this might mean bringing in clothes to change into just to make sure that no one gets confused by it. Although we did have one good location there were some locations that could've been better, we could've swapped location earlier so that we didn't waste as much time filming things that weren't going to work.
What did others say about your productions?
People said that it was a clever idea to use the dream because it didn't make it too confusing because it was a small time scale so that people didn't have to think too much about what happened in the last scene. Also people really understood that it was a dream due to the effect and acting.
What have you learnt from completing this task?I have learnt a lot from this task, I have learnt new skills and learnt from mistakes that we all as a group made. I've learnt more about editing and the different effects that can be used, how to think quick to resolve problems that we faced and that the work done should be split fairly between the group. I really enjoyed this task and I learnt so much from it, I will not fail to use the knowledge I have learnt from this task and use it in the future for different tasks.
